Bangs are a stylish fringe of hair that falls across the top of the forehead. There are many different versions of bangs: side swept bangs, blunt bangs, parted bangs, choppy bangs, and asymmetrical bangs. Bangs tend to come in and out of fashion easily and people often grow them out at one point and later choose to cut them again when they are popular. Most of us also have busy lives and hair that grows much faster than we have time to keep running to the beauty salon. For those who fall in this category, here are a few tips on how to cut your bangs at home:

You will likely discover soon enough that bang cutting really is better left to those who are experienced at the craft. This is a process that is easily botched and hard to recover from. With this in mind, if you are still willing to give this project a try on your own, you need to take care and take your time.

It is best to use the sharpest scissors you have in your possession for this job; it will ensure a cleaner more precise cut. While most hairstylists will cut bangs while they are still wet, it is usually a better plan for an amateur to do a dry cut. Those who have had to live with too-short bangs for a few weeks can attest to this.

Using two fingers, grab your bangs and pull downward on them until they are taught, leaving enough hair at the bottom for you to be able to properly gauge how much you are cutting. Cut at a 45-degree angle from right to left and then from left to right until you have achieved the desired length. Be careful to take your time and cut a little bit at a time.

With a little time, patience, and practice, you can become quite proficient at cutting your own bangs. With this practice, you will definitely be getting the most bang for your buck!
